Coach Taylor Mendenhall leads the Millard South Football program with a commitment to developing young men who are prepared to compete at the highest level on the field and succeed in every area of life.

Mendenhall believes great football programs are built through great people. His philosophy centers on the core behaviors of E.O.T.F. — Effort, Ownership, Toughness, and Focus. These principles define the daily expectations of the program and challenge players to become disciplined, accountable and resilient teammates, students and leaders.

Mendenhall's first season as head coach in 2025 produced one of the most successful seasons in Millard South history and has been deemed by many - the best high school football team in Nebraska state history. The record-setting Patriots outscored their opponents 742-44 while capturing a second consecutive Nebraska Class A State Championship - the fourth in program history.

The 2025 Patriots also demonstrated the program's commitment to developing players for opportunities beyond high school football. The roster featured thirty one seniors and twenty three student-athletes with college football opportunities.
Coach Mendenhall was the head coach for the following All-State football players:
Jett Thomalla, Amarion Jackson, Isaac Jensen, Carter Glab, DaShawn Prince, Teagan Urban Landen Von Seggern, Solomon Baker, Brody Anderson, Dax Williams, Antonio Harris, Dave Fajardo-Rhyxell.

Prior to being named Head Coach in 2025, Coach Mendenhall served as quarterback coach, tight-ends, safeties, and coordinated the special teams. In his tenure at Millard South, Mendenhall led the junior varsity to three consecutive undefeated seasons. Coach Mendenhall also coached defensive-line at Kearney High School and Adams Central High School.

As a three-sport athlete at Millard South, Coach Mendenhall went on to have a successful football career at Hastings College where he earned a Business/Accounting Degree and Master’s in Teaching. Coach Mendenhall and his wife, Tatum, have twin sons, Benjamin (2) and Barrett (2).

Mendenhall's vision is to build a program that consistently competes for championships while creating opportunities for every player to reach his potential. The program emphasizes elite preparation, physical development, academic achievement, character and genuine investment in teammates to continue to expand the Patriot Football legacy.
